I have Surv1 on like 8 chars now, it's the easiest title IMO... Just be careful and pick your fights wisely... Don't over aggro, pull enemies out at every opportunity, watch how you enter the battle and make sure you have a back door if you need to retreat... My advise, if you wanna be really proud of your survivor title: NEVER use F12 ENTER!!! All you have succeeded in doing is being able to log out when the going got tough, not being able to survive when the going got tough... I have Surv 3 on my Ranger and did it with alot of planning, patience and good defense and self healing ability. I had WD, LR and TU in my build... Use guildies where ever you can, even on noob island... I had guildies take me thru Zen Daishun, Vizuna and the likes and I was still able to help fight and contribute by staying in the backline...
Also, get max armor ASAP, I got mine at level 15 or 16 I think. Nothing wrong with getting a run somewhere either, just get it ASAP, it will even the playing fields when u get to the higher levels.
I Also took alot of interrupts in my build to neutralise casters, so ele and Rt bosses never really bothered me that much. I had Jin kitted out exactly like me so the 2 of us could overlap the interrupts. Then Koss and Dunkoro. Give Koss "Watch Yourself" as he uses it whenever it's ready and it does help you alot.
That's how I did it...
Good Luck with yours...

I got it the 2nd time I tried to get it. I used an Assasin, started out in Shing Jea (Duh!) and died at about level 4 in the snowy part of Shing Jea. I then deleted my 30min old assasin and made a new one. This time I decided I would get some help. I got run through the Shing Jea missions and hired someone to run me through a few quests. I got to level 6. YES! Then I realised getting quests and missions run for XP completely defeats the purpose of the Survivor title, so I made amends and decided to do the quests myself from then on. After only 2 missions and countless Shing Jea and Kaineng Centre quests I am a survivor on my Assasin!
You might find this helpful...
1. Don't give up
2. Try to get masters in the first 2 Shing Jea missions, but only do so when your can easily pwn the enemies, no point rushing through a mish and dying now is there?
3. If you use henchies, and you probably will, direct them using flags, its very risky to run into the fray first as you take most of the aggro and get bogged down by swarms of enemies.
4. If you die the first time or two, don't give up.
5. Be patient, take your time. Read up on quests before taking them to avoid being killed by a monster spawn in the last part of a seemingly easy quest!
6. Never ever gp afk or play during bad lag.
Now, I'm no expert at this survivor title, I just made it to the first tier and decided to stop there. This is just a few things I made sure I did that may have helped me. Good luck man and don't give up!

I've managed to get to Level 2 Survivor so far with my Sin. Yeah, I know. Some people are going, "with a SIN?" I wanted to see if it could be done since Sins are notorious for "swish - splat - rez me!"
There's no big secret to it. Most of the hints I got right here on Guru.
1.) Good Hero/Henchman management. I don't do PuGs for a couple reasons. a.) they're unreliable, b.) if I do have to do a quick exit to avoid dying, I'm not abandoning real people. (I've only had to do that once, btw.)
2.) Do as many high XP quests as you can. These are mostly found in Factions and Nightfall. I haven't bothered doing many in Prophecies since most quests are only about 500 xp.
3.) Skill cap, skill cap, skill cap. When you get to level 20, you get 5000 xp for every elite cap. These really add up. Plus, you get points toward your Skill Hunter titles.

I got level 1 Survivor with my Paragon, which was my goal. After that I didn't focus on getting more levels and eventually died, but getting the level 1 was very easy and I didn't even come close to dying.
It helped that I could port to Kaineng and cap elites with my secondary (/W) on a double xp for elite caps weekend, since there are quite a few just around the city. Even if I didn't plan on using the warrior elites, they were still a good source of xp - and not to mention to various fed-ex type run around - quests around KC as well.

Like I meant with my image, Doorman can be the best bet for some tier survivor titles. But another great solution is right outside of Yohlon Haven.
Depending on what profession you're taking, it can be really easy to farm the howlers to the east while in hard mode. If you add a hunter's insight every run (300gp: +175%xp for 5 minutes) you can make 10,500xp every 20 monkeys you kill (there are 4 groups of 5 right outside Yohlon.) I would suggest for most professions just to bring [skill]Vengeful Was Khanhei[/skill], or [skill]Shield Of Judgment[/skill]. Either one @ 12 attribute points will be enough to kill off the tusked beasts quickly, and you can make 10,500xp in about 2 minutes, rinse, and repeat. Adding the time it takes to warp, and assuming you have 1mil exp to your third survivor title, you could effectively reach it in 300minutes, or 5 hours, and 30k in scrolls. Quickest way I can see it working without putting yourself at risk of death. So effectively if you play whatever character your trying to get survivor on for 30 minutes every day (just farming), you could have legendary in about 10 days.
For VWK all you'd really need is [skill]Vengeful Was Khanhei[/skill] and [skill]resilient weapon[/skill].
If you can't go far enough in the game to get VWK, SoJ works but it's a little slower than VWK, possibly adding another hour to my 5 hour estimate.

For Legendary Survivor on my elementalist, I did the following:
The character was a NF character...I did quests and missions in NF (without doing the Hunted quest) and do some quests in Factions to get to level 20, Tier 1.
For Tier 2, I did the missions and some of the quests in Prophecies (from LA) through to Dragon's Lair (no bonus!)... do Prophecies first in order to ascend via the Doppelganger mission (before ascending in NF or Factions) in order to get the reward of 50K in exp; then I did quests and missions in Factions leading up to, but not including Tahnakai Temple mission (although doing Vizunah Square is risky with the bug...maybe logging out right when the cutscene would start might address that?); and then I did the did Kourna and Vabbi quests and missions in NF leading up to, but not including Dasha Vestibule mission (picked Margrid).
Generally, don't bother going for masters or bonuses on missions other than the easy ones. Don't use runners; fight your way instead. Generally, use heroes and henchies and although not better than human players, they are generally more reliable and under your control; learn to use flags to place them when needed. Use scrolls when you remember. To get to Sunspear General in NF, I think I mostly hunted heket outside Camp Hojanu.
For Tier 2 to Tier 3. I avoided doing elite captures earlier to wait for a "double experience for elite skill captures" weekend then did about 80 elite captures over that weekend. Unfortunately, an elite skill weekend just happened recently. They take place it seems about every 5 months.

The easiest prof to use would either be ranger or paragon.
Midline profs so you are not in the fray and likely to get random melee spikes, but not in the backline with armour made of thin, wet paper.
Just be careful, when you enter a lvl in the low areas of the game, make sure you are about 2 lvls higher than the henches, and when you are approaching a mob, keep your eyes peeled for patrols, if in doubt, pull the patrol and eliminate it to cover your retreat and make sure you cant get overwhelmed.
Also, when you do reach lvl 20, you can start capping skills. its good xp and helps towards skill hunter titles.
thats my two cents, its how i reached 400k xp and still going on my paragon.

By playing very, very carefully. And almost never playing with RP.
I have 5 chars with lvl 1, 2 of those have made it to lvl 2 (a 3rd made the mistake of going for that Mo boss south of Resplendant Makhun 45k XP shy of 2nd lvl).
4 are Factions chars, 2 W, 1 fire ele and 1 R, the 5th is a para. The 2 lvl 2 are 1 W and the para (the R was the one dead at 540k XP).
Did it by just playing through the game, doing all quests possible, didn't use XP scrolls, except a bit on the lvl 1 W.
The lvl 2s I got during the recent dbl XP for caps weekend. The para was up to ~510k XP and 1 W was ~417k. The para was pretty easy because he'd explored more areas and so had access to more bosses and only had to change 2nds once or twice. The W had to change his 2nd (I'd brought him over from Cantha and he was as far as Sunspear Sanctuary) several times to have enough bosses to cap.
It certainly helps if you have another char or two that've completed the various chapters, so you already know what to expect in terms of enemies you'll be facing and the lay-out of the maps, etc.
With the para, I had the advantage of getting him ferried to the docks for max armor at lvl 3 or 4 iirc and once he hit lvl 20, took him to Cantha for all those 3k XP quests around KC. As someone mentioned, Mending Refrain (cast not just on yourself but on your whole party) helped immensely, though it's kind of tedious to stop every 10 steps/seconds to cast Anthem of Flame to keep it going. lol
One trick I used on the Ws was to have them use bows instead of swords so the hench Ws would take the agro. I learned that trick with my 1st Proph W/Mo, who used a smiting rod - I had discovered that kept the casters back next to me, whereas they would otherwise follow me into the melee range when I used a sword.
With the fire ele, she has the armor that gives +10 while enchanted and I put enough points into earth so that Armor of Earth gives her another +46.
On reason I have so many lvl 1s is that once I got there, I was afraid to continue playing them, so I'd go off and make a new char. And while it turns out to be not really *that* difficult to get lvl 1, going for lvl 2 becomes very nerve-racking and takes a lot of the fun out of playing because I'm having to play oh so carefully. I can imagine what it must be like to try for the 3rd rank and I really want to go out and let these 2 guys die so I can concentrate on just having fun with them rather than constantly worrying about not letting them die.
The title is kind of meaningless, in a way, as it doesn't signify how skilled you are as a player, only how carefully and cautiously you played.

I think greenthumb played my character for me. :P Joking, I did what he did for the most part, but I stayed out of the desert. I went to Ascalon to get the mission quests for my title on my ranger as my main difference from his method.

I tend to dissagree with you there, but I think that's cos I do it the "right" way... I think the title takes a lot of skill, quick thinking, planning and so on. F12 ENTER is none of the above... So if the title is achieved in the "right" way, by playing the game through and not farming it, or logging out etc, then I believe it is a skilled title.
Herein lies the problem tho, you can't tell how the person got their survivor title. The only person who can truely be proud and awed about the title, is the person who got it in the right way and has pride in themselves.

My necro (from Prophecies) made it to the first tier. Got to Yak's bend (tried to do all the missions and quests on my way there). Then a friend ran me to LA. Went to Kaineng, got max armor, and started doing the 3000xp quests there VERY carefully.. Anyway, so I just made it to the max tier and got wiped by a freak Dragon Stomp that 4 Ele's did at the same time (close to where Kenshi the Sin Boss is)
/cry
Then I tried again with a ranger trying to stick to 1 campaign and go all the way through prophecies. Got to Bloodstone Fen Lvl17, lagged out pretty bad, hit alt+f4 a little too late and got wiped by friggin scarabs

Don't try to get suvivor on a bad internet connection. I would NEVER try to get the title myself since I often have 2-4 FPS and could easily lag spike right into a mob.

yeah lag kills..
i got r3 on my ranger after many [about 6] attempts. i did skill capping on elona, tyria and abit from cantha. then in between capping and missions, i did the repeatable sorrows furnace quest, summit slaves. got a pang of zomg when i got crushed by the ice crusher machine after lagging. luckily death does not count.
repeatable quests like luxon and kuzrick arena is great for xp and faction. but you'll have to be carefull getting there. also use guild hall button in case u need to map out quick. but try not to that in parties especially if u play a monk. =/ otherwise its safer bet to play with heroes on your own. take things slow and pull mobs. i wouldnt solo farm since you could lag and die or miscast some skills.
good luck going for it.

I have a para and mesmer Legendary Survivor and several others at tier 1. I recommend going with a class from the campaign you know the best. Exp scrolls are you friend. With my mesmer she started in Factions and did everything up until Unwaking. Other then scrolls and cap sigs did nothing special with her and had it in 3 days After she hit legendary went on to finish Prot and Grandmaster of cantha with her as well.

I've got a few survivors now, once you get the hang of it its easier to accomplish. My first was a tier 1 Tyrian Necro whom I played through to the desert with armor from Kaineng. My second was a tier 2 (and still going) Ritualist. I found her easiest because I could set up spirits and use the henchmen to pull into their range. My third is a tier 3 Dervish, and yes I did fight a lot of the time. My fourth is a tier 1 Paragon which I never intended to get survivor with, it just happened that way.
Few things I've learnt along the way:
-Treat your heroes as though they were real players - give them weapons (modded collectors are just as good as greens and golds and a lot cheaper), give them runes (mine have 1 major, 3 minors and a vitae. I'm on a bit of a budget), and give them skills.
-If you're having a laggy connection day, don't play your survivor. If you're having a computer problem, don't play your survivor. My pc restarted once while in an explorable (and just having engaged a mob) while on my Dervish. Its not something you want to have to cope with. If you are worried about a mission, do it with another character before you go in so the enemy groupings and locations are fresh in your mind.
-Don't be afraid to ask for occasional help - some of those bosses hit your flagged NPCs hard, so ask someone else to come and spread them out a bit.
-Know when you can't get any further in a campaign. My Dervish stopped at Grand Court. My Ritualist stopped at Imperial Sanctum. Both were missions I wasn't confident of survival.
-Consider working on another title simultaneously. My Dervish has 80% cartographer of Elona, because a) it made killing random things more purposeful and b) I'm obsessed with maps. I'd say she got about 300,000 xp from doing it. Doesn't sound like a lot but that 60k saved in cap sigs and 60 bosses I didn't have to kill. Use Sunspear and Lightbringer blessings to your advantage.
Lastly: take your time, survivor is not a title for the impatient.
Good Luck with your title, and feel free to poke if you need someone to hold your henchies for you
